About Us.
Pat Colasuonno started his culinary journey working at a pizza restaurant in New York. He moved to Florida and continued to work and learn all aspects of Italian cuisine. The love of cooking great food moved to BBQ when I bought my first smoker in 2000. Pat has learned from some of the best BBQ competition chefs in the world. The love of BBQ and competitive drive turned the BBQ passion into a competition team.

Sporting Wood BBQ began as a competition team in 2019. Our first contest in Davenport, Fl. we won an award for third place brisket. Since that time, we have been bitten by the bug of competition bbq. We competed for several years in the backyard division winning several awards. We are now a Professional team in the Florida BBQ Assocation

Sporting Wood BBQ has taken the knowledge gained from competitions to make great BBQ available for catering and events. We use some of the same products in competition that we use for our catering and event BBQ.
